The 2025 pride in Madrid, one of the best known and busy in the world, officially began on Wednesday with a claim and loaded with emotion for the memory and rights of LGTBI+people. “Let’s raise our voices for those who have been killed at the hands of homophobic herds,” said actor Carlos González, who has been in charge of giving the pride outlet, along with his companions of the series Marilive, Blanca Martínez and Yeni, before the gaze and applause of the people who have agglutinated in the central Plaza Pedro Zerolo, in Chueca.

“Being a person in the collective is not a choice, being ‘phobic’ yes that is. So we celebrate, let’s have a good time and raise our voice for all of us who pass fear, for which we have been attacked, let’s lift our voice by all those who at the hands of homophobic herds have been killed,” González has thrown.

In a similar line, Yeni has been expressed, which wanted to take advantage of the microphone to “remember all those other dissident voices that were silenced, criminalized and even killed only by existing.” “Enough of hate, discrimination and genocides,” Rodrigo summarized, who in his speech has asked people heterosexual cis to support the struggle of the LGTBI+collective.

As in the last editions, the one in charge of opening and directing the act has been the artist and ‘Drag Queen’ La Plexy, who has come to the event accompanied by several artists and who has impelled the public to sing the song ‘Who cares’, symbol of the collective.

The representatives of associations such as the HIV and AIDS State Coordinator (Cesida) have also passed through the scenario, which has asked that “the discrimination” of people with HIV is over; the group of lesbians, gays, transsexuals, bisexual and intersex of Madrid (COGAM), which has demanded the effective prohibition of conversion therapies; and the LGTBI+State Federation, which has encouraged the attendees to chant “or a step back”, in reference to the rights achieved.

One of the moments that have generated the most joy among the public has been the appearance of Samantha Hudson and Luis Miguélez, since both have composed the official song of this year’s pride, under the title ‘shouting love’.

Equal marriage

Another of the claims that the proclamation has marked has been that this year 20 years have passed since the approval of equal marriage in Spain, as recalled the motto of this year LGTBI+ this year ’20 years advancing in rights: not a step back ‘. Thanks to this law, more than 75,000 same -sex couples have been able to marry in the last two decades.

Thus, practically all politicians who have approached the proclamation have referred to this fact. There have been more Madrid committees, headed by the Assembly spokeswoman, Manuela Bergerot, along with Eduardo Rubiño, Carla Antonelli and Tesh Sidi; of the PSOE, led by the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, who has been accompanied by Reyes Maroto and Mar Espinar, and the PP, represented by the delegate of the Social Policies, Family and Equality of the City of Madrid, José Fernández.

Although the state demonstration of LGTBI+ pride will be this Saturday, July 5, the capital will host several acts during the next few days to celebrate LGTBI+ pride and claim the rights of the collective.

Thus, this Thursday will take the heels and on Friday the Madrid Summit, a day of dialogue and reflection on the rights of the LGTBI+collective. All this with dozens of concerts and shows in several scenarios distributed throughout the city and in which artists such as Ana Torroja, Rozalén or Chanel will perform.
